Rio de Janeiro-Galeão Airport is officially called Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport, after a famous Brazilian musician. The airport is investing substantially in improvements and extensions for the World Cup Soccer 2014 in Brazil.

The airport is situated on an island, 20 kilometers north of Rio de Janeiro's city center. There are (slow) regular buses and express bus connections with the city center; the airport has no train connection. The airport is easily reachable by car via freeway BR-101.

The airport has a reasonable number of restaurants, cafés, (snack) bars, and shops, which will increase before the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
