Sabiha Gökçen Airport is the second airport of the Turkish city Istanbul and is situated in the Asian part of Turkey. The airport's name is a tribute to Sabiha Gökçen, the world's first female military pilot.

The airport is situated 40 kilometers southeast of the Asian center of Istanbul (Kadıköy) and 45 kilometers from the European part. There are plans to extend the new light rail line to Kartal to the airport. Currently public transport only includes shuttle buses. The airport lies along the connecting road between two freeways and is therefore easily reachable by car.

The airport has a large duty-free area and several restaurants, cafés, (snack) bars, and coffee shops (for example Gloria Jean’s Coffee). There are VIP lounges and a business center, but if you want to book meeting or conference rooms you need to turn to the business hotels in Istanbul.
