Introduction

Forlì is known for its airport, which is being used by budget airlines as an alternative for Bologna airport. Few people know that old Forlì is an attractive little town, founded by the Romans. Forlì has many architecturally and historically interesting buildings, including the Abbey of San Mercuriale with a beautiful tomb, the 13th century San Domenico church, several palaces, the medieval fortress Rocca di Ravaldino, and interesting ethnographic museum. Beautiful frescos can be admired in many old buildings. The presence of the University of Bologna guarantees an enjoyable nightlife. Furthermore, there are a number of thermal baths nearby.

The city has more that 100,000 inhabitants.

Forlì is located in the Emilia-Romagna region in the northeast of Italy. The city is built on the right bank of the river Montane and lies on the ancient Roman road the Via Emilia. Bologna is situated sixty kilometers northwest of Forlì and by rental car you can get there via the A14 (E45).

Economy

Forlì's industry is principally engaged in the production of silk, artificial silk, clothing and household appliances. Furthermore, the University of Bologna has a campus in Forlì.

Forlì airport is on the city's southeast beach. Forlì Airport (also known as Forlì-Bologna Airport or Luigi Ridolfi Airport) is easily accessible by rental car: from the center you take the Viale Roma (SS9) and turn right on the Via Carlo Seganti. From the city center it will take you ten minutes to get to the airport. The way to the airport is indicated on signs.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
