Introduction

Arezzo is an attractive city in the Italian region of Tuscany. In spite of the later addition of more modern buildings, the medieval character of the old city center has been preserved. Here you can visit many monumental churches and large parts of the city wall are still standing.

The city has 100,000 inhabitants.

Location

Arezzo is located in the center of Tuscany, in the Chianti region. The city is situated high on a hill along the River Arno. The oldest part of the city lies on top of the hill.

Economy

Tourism plays a major part in local economy. Visitors come to Arezzo to enjoy the medieval atmosphere which is enhanced during the many festivals which are organized during summer months. From way back Arezzo is also a city of workers in precious metals, mainly goldsmiths. You'll therefore find many shops selling locally produced jewelry.

Airports

The nearest airport is Florence Airport, officially called Amerigo Vespucci Airport, but often referred to as Peretola Airport. It's situated 90 kilometers northwest of Arezzo and is easily reachable by rental car via freeway A1.

Public Transport

Arezzo has good public transport. Buses of the company Etruria Mobilità run to destinations within the city and to towns in the province of Arezzo.

Traffic and Parking

Arezzo's old center is a pedestrian zone. You can park your rental car at one of the municipal parking lots outside the old city walls and explore the center by foot. Parking rates are low: you pay about € 10 for a whole day.

Hotels

Arezzo has a good choice of accommodations ranging from a youth hostel and some basic guesthouses to luxurious hotels.  What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

Our rates are all-inclusive. Our reservation department will inform you in advance should additional costs apply. You can always cancel your booking free of charge if you do not agree (this must be done at least 48 hours prior to the start of the car hire period).

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
