Location information for Nantes Train Station

General information

Nantes Station is Nantes' central station. Nantes is located in the west of France on the Loire, about 50 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean. The station consists of two parts: a northern station (Gare Nord) and a southern station (Gare Sud). Both are part of the station and are connected by an underpass, from where you can also reach all the platforms. From Gare Nord it's a 20-minute walk to the city center. The TGV Atlantique calls at the station. From Nantes you can go to Paris Montparnasse, Lille, Lyon and Strasbourg.

Transportation

Do you want to visit the city or its surroundings? Taxis and buses can be found at the exits on both sides of the station. At Gare Nord, you can take line 12 in the direction of Orvault and on the south side you'll find bus lines 56 in the direction of Saint-Herblain and 31 in the direction of Reze. Regional buses stop opposite the entrance of Gare Sud. Nantes' streetcar stops opposite Gare Nord. It takes you in 5 minutes to the center, Saint-Herblain, and the soccer stadium.

You can also rent a car at Nantes Station. There are five car rental companies: Avis, Hertz, ADA, Sixt, and National Citer, all outside Gare Sud. Leave the station, turn left, and you'll find them on the Rue Cornulier. Bikes can be rented at Gare Sud opposite Hotel Mercure.

Services

In both concourses you can find an SNCF information desk and ticket offices, as well as ticket machines. There are also a lost-and-found desk, a police station, lockers, and restrooms with facilities to change babies' nappies. In addition, there are ATMs, snacks and soft-drink dispensers, a passport photo booth, a machine to develop your photos, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an AED.

Restaurants

On both sides of the station you can find (takeout) restaurants. More restaurants are available across the road when leaving Gare Nord.

Shops

In both the northern and the southern concourse there's a Relay kiosk where you can buy (international) newspapers, magazines, and books.
