Location information for Antibes

Introduction

Antibes is a historical town on the Mediterranean which main attractions are the beautiful beaches in the vicinity. For a long time, Antibes fell short of other seaside resorts on the French Riviera. For many artists this was the reason to spend a shorter or longer time in this town. Unfortunately, Antibes has also been swept along in the continuous tourist development of the Côte d’Azur. The only thing reminding us of the artistic past of Antibes is the Picasso Museum.

Population

Antibes-Juan les Pins has almost 80,000 inhabitants.

Location

The town is located in the south of France on the Mediterranean near the Cap d'Antibes, a peninsula separating the Baie de Cannes from the Baie des Anges. Cannes is situated 10 kilometers west of Antibes while Nice lies 20 kilometers northeast of town.

Economy

In addition to Antibes-Juan les Pins being a shopping city, tourism forms an important pillar of local economy. It's also a center for the development of high-grade technology. The business park Sophia Antipolis is sometimes called the French version of Silicon Valley. The companies here employ over 30,000 people.

Airports

Aéroport Nice Côte d’Azur is situated 15 kilometers north-east of Antibes. The airport is easily reachable by rental car via Route Nationale 98 or freeway A8.

Public Transport

Antibes has excellent public bus transport. The 31 lines that run from the Gare Routière (bus station) on Place General de Gaulle serve destinations both inside and outside the city.

Traffic and Parking

Especially during summer months it's extremely busy in Antibes. It's then difficult to find a free parking place for your rental car in the street. Fortunately there are several parking garages in Antibes, for example near the train station. Their locations are signposted.

Hotels

There's no shortage of accommodation in this popular seaside resort. Most accommodations are holiday hotels and resorts but in the old city center you can also find typical French family hotels. If you want to visit Antibes in the summer months we recommend booking your accommodation well in advance.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

Our rates are all-inclusive. Our reservation department will inform you in advance should additional costs apply. You can always cancel your booking free of charge if you do not agree (this must be done at least 48 hours prior to the start of the car hire period).

 What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.

 What is a worry-free label?

Only rental companies with a high level of customer satisfaction are eligible to be included in our Worry-Free selection. This rate includes excess cover and unlimited kilometres. Your vehicle will be provided and must be returned with a full tank of fuel. With a vehicle from our Worry-Free selection, you can travel with peace of mind and no hidden costs.

 How can I change or cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation through "My Account". We recommend contacting us by phone if your changes to your booking or cancellation takes place at short notice (48 hours or less).
