Santiago Airport is officially named after the Chilean aviation pioneer Arturo Merino Benítez. The airport of Chile's capital is also called Pudahuel Airport, after its location.

The airport is situated 18 kilometers west of Santiago's city center. There's no direct rail connection with the airport, but every ten minutes a shuttle bus runs to the subway station Los Héroes. The airport lies directly along the beltway (Autopista Vespucio Norte) around the Chilean capital and is therefore easily reachable by car and bus.

The airport is equipped with a beautiful shopping area with over seventy shops and twenty restaurants, cafés, and (snack) bars. There are several VIP lounges and there's a business center with meeting room in the international terminal. For larger meeting or conference rooms you can go to the Holiday Inn airport hotel. There's free access to wireless internet (Wi-Fi) in the restaurants.
