Canberra Airport is one of the few airports nearby a national capital without international flights. There are only flights to and from other destinations within Australia.

The airport is situated 12 kilometers east of Canberra's city center. There's no train connection with the airport and only one bus connection: 'The Airliner Bus', a shuttle bus between the airport and the center of the Australian capital. By car, the airport is easily reachable via freeway A1.

The airport has few shops. There are also only a few coffee shops and snack bars, including a popular eating facility offering Asian snacks. The number of shops and cafés will increase with the completion of the expansion of the terminal in 2013. There are some VIP lounges, but for extensive business services, including rental of conference and meeting rooms, you need to turn to the business hotels in Canberra.
