The airport of Malaga, in the south of Spain, is located eight kilometres to the south-west of the city. It is one of Spain's oldest airports. The airport used to be known as El Rompezido. In 2005, Malaga Airport processed over 12.5 million passengers, In the peak season, Malaga Airport is so busy that the waiting periods at the check-in counters may be very long.
